An Interview with Cash Bordin
January 6, 2012
Last summer, Cash Bordin debuted with IWA Unlimited with a victory over Cole James.
Six months later, he's the winner of the 2011 Newcomer of the Year award and has made quite an impact as one of the favorites of all IWAU fans. In 2012, many expect greatness from the man that many have just assumed to be a hood rat from the streets. There's much more to Cash Bordin than meets the eye. He's a fan of wrestling and despite the fact that he's not muscle bound, "a flippy kid" or the biggest dog in the fight, he MAY be the dog with the most heart.
Here, we take a moment to find out a little bit more about Cash.
IWA Unlimited: When did you become a fan of professional wrestling?
Cash Bordin: I started watching wrestling when I was about 2 years old with my dad and grandpa.
IWA Unlimited: When did you decide that you wanted to become a wrestler?
Cash Bordin: In 1997, my dad took me to see "Badd Blood: In Your House". It was Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker in the first ever Hell In A Cell match. That's when I told my dad that I was going to [be a wrestler] someday.
IWA Unlimited: Who broke you into the business?
Cash Bordin: I started training in Paris, IL with one of my best friends right after graduating high school. I was trained by Ollie Tharp and a man by the name of Ice Cold Outlaw.
IWA Unlimited: Who are your major influences in your life and your wrestling career?
Cash Bordin: Shawn Michaels before he got all cleaned up. Chris Benoit, Scott Hall, Jerry Lynn, Brian Danielson, Roddy Piper, and Chris Jericho.
IWA Unlimited: You’re stranded on a deserted island for the rest of time with the capabilities to watch a ONE dvd with 10 wrestling matches of your choice. What 10 matches do you choose?
Cash Bordin: Triple H vs. Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels from Wrestlemania XX, any of the Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle matches, Shawn Michaels vs. Bret from Wrestlemania 12, Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit in a Cage Match from Raw in 2001, CM Punk vs. Raven in a Dog Collar Match from from ROH Death Before Dishonor, Homicide vs. CM Punk in a Street Fight from FIP, The New Age Outlaws vs. Chainsaw Charlie & Cactus Jack from Wrestlemania 14, Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho from Wrestlemania XIX, Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair from Wrestlemania 24 and last, but certainly not least, Low Ki vs. Davey Richards PWG last year.
IWA Unlimited: What do you do in your free time?
Cash Bordin: When I'm not wrestling, I’m anticipating and thinking about the next show.
IWA Unlimited: What has been your greatest moments in your IWAU tenure thus far?
Cash Bordin: Defeating Matt Cage was a big win. Also, being voted the 2011 IWAU Newcomer of the Year was a great honor. Wrestle for the Heavyweight Title against Matt Cage and forcing Scott Parker to wear that diaper were also great moments that come to mind.
IWA Unlimited: What has been your worst moment in IWAU thus far?
Cash Bordin: I was disappointed when I didn’t defeat Matt Cage for the Heavyweight Title, but by far the worst moment was recently, getting a swollen taint during a match where I teamed with Shank against Scott Parker and Oliver Cain.
IWA Unlimited: If you could pick one match that defines your career, what match would that be?
Cash Bordin: I wrestled Jerry Lynn once. He was one of my influences growing up and without a doubt, it was the most nerve racking match of my life.
IWA Unlimited: As mentioned, you were recently voted “Best Newcomer of 2011”. If you could tell the fans anything, what would you say?
Cash Bordin: Thank you so much for supporting me and voting for me.
IWA Unlimited: What are your goals within IWAU in 2012?
Cash Bordin: I’d LOVE to defeat Christian Rose and shut him up. I’d also love to get a shot at and win the Club Title. Maybe even win the Heavyweight Title before the year is over. Aim high.
IWA Unlimited: Last year you opened a lot of eyes, going toe to toe with current and former Heavyweight Champions, taking on all challenges and proving your worth. What makes you a wrestler to pay attention to this year?
Cash Bordin: In 2012, I'm coming out swinging with KO's and tap outs.
Please be sure to locate Cash Bordin on Facebook and continue to show your support at all IWAU events in the upcoming year, including his upcoming match against "Fabulous" Jason V at All or Nothing on January 14th at the IWAU Arena!
